Using A Black Screen

Terms & Conditions

These terms explain the basic rules for accessing and using A Black Screen and its browser-based utilities.

Effective date: August 22, 2026

Acceptance of these terms.

By accessing or using A Black Screen, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

The service.

A Black Screen provides free, browser-based utilities including colour screens, fullscreen views, brightness controls, session tools, lighting guidance, and locally generated image downloads. The features may change, be updated, or be unavailable from time to time.

No account or purchase is required for the main tools. Your browser, device, operating system, and display determine how a feature behaves.

Acceptable use.

You agree to use the site lawfully and responsibly. You must not:

  • Interfere with the operation, security, or availability of the site.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site or its supporting infrastructure.
  • Use automated requests or other activity that places an unreasonable load on the service.
  • Use the site to violate another person's rights or any applicable law.

Safety and display use.

A bright or saturated screen can be uncomfortable for people sensitive to light. Adjust your device brightness to a comfortable level and stop using the tool if it causes discomfort. Follow your device manufacturer's instructions when cleaning a display. A Black Screen is not a medical, repair, or safety device.

Downloads and content.

Images generated by the download feature are simple colour fields created in your browser. You may use those generated images for ordinary personal or commercial purposes, subject to any rights or restrictions that apply to your intended use. You are responsible for checking that your use is appropriate.

The site name, design, copy, code, and other site materials belong to their respective rights holders. Do not copy or redistribute site materials in a way that suggests we endorse or operate another service without permission.

Using fullscreen and session features.

Fullscreen, screen wake lock, cursor hiding, and related functions depend on your browser and device. You may need to grant a browser permission before a feature works, and some mobile browsers may provide a different experience from desktop browsers. You are responsible for using those features in a way that is safe and comfortable for your surroundings.

The session feature is a convenience for keeping a screen open for an extended period. It does not guarantee that every device will remain awake, connected, or powered for the full session. Batteries, operating-system settings, browser policies, and hardware can interrupt it. Stop the session when it is no longer needed and do not leave a bright screen unattended where it could disturb another person or create a distraction.

Colour, lighting, and display checks.

A Black Screen provides digital colour fields and general guidance for screen lighting, display inspection, and simple backgrounds. A displayed colour can vary by panel technology, calibration, viewing angle, brightness, colour profile, HDR mode, browser, and room light. The black screen and colour screens are not certified calibration targets, medical devices, repair instruments, safety equipment, or a substitute for professional testing.

Use reasonable care when viewing bright or saturated screens. Lower the brightness in a dark room, take breaks during longer sessions, and stop if you experience discomfort. When cleaning a display, follow the manufacturer instructions, use suitable materials, and never spray liquid directly onto a panel unless the manufacturer specifically says to do so. A Black Screen is not responsible for damage caused by cleaning, lighting placement, display settings, or another use of the tools.

Browser compatibility and availability.

The site is designed for current browsers on common phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers. Features may behave differently in an outdated browser, a browser with strict permissions, a private window, an embedded web view, or a device managed by an organization. The site may be changed, paused, relocated, or unavailable without notice. We do not promise that a particular feature will work on every device or with every browser version.

You are responsible for maintaining your device, browser, network connection, security software, and backups. A Black Screen does not provide technical support for your operating system, display hardware, browser extensions, internet service, or third-party applications. Before relying on a screen or lighting setup for an important event, test it in the environment where you plan to use it.

Feedback and communications.

If you send feedback or a bug report, you grant us permission to use the information to review, reproduce, communicate about, and improve the site. Do not send confidential information, passwords, payment details, private documents, or material that you do not have the right to share. We are not required to implement a suggestion, maintain a particular feature, or respond within a specific period.

Email and external services have their own terms, privacy practices, and availability. When you follow a link to another colour-screen site or third-party service, you choose to interact with that service directly. Review its policies and use it at your own discretion. A link does not mean that A Black Screen controls, sponsors, or guarantees the linked service.

Ownership and permitted use.

You may access the site and use its browser utilities for lawful personal, educational, workplace, or commercial activities. You may use images generated by the download tool for ordinary purposes, provided your use does not violate another person's rights or a rule that applies to your project. The generated colour field is different from the site's branding, interface, documentation, and source code, which may have separate rights.

You may not frame, mirror, scrape, copy, modify, sell, or redistribute the site in a way that misleads people about its source or creates an unreasonable burden on the service. You may not attempt to bypass security, interfere with availability, introduce malicious code, or use automated activity to abuse the site. We may restrict access when necessary to protect the service, visitors, or infrastructure.

External links.

A Black Screen may link to third-party websites. Those websites are outside our control, and we do not guarantee their availability, content, or practices. Visiting an external site is your responsibility.

Disclaimer.

The site and its features are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties about availability, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted operation.

Limitation of liability.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, A Black Screen and the people involved in operating it will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site. You use the tools at your own discretion and risk.

Changes to these terms.

We may update these terms as the site changes. Continued use of A Black Screen after an update means you accept the revised terms. The effective date above identifies the current version.
